Hilary B. Booker, Ph.D.
"If you have come to help me, you are wasting your time.
If you've come because your liberation is bound up with mine,
then let us work together."
~Aboriginal Abolitionist Movement
I engage with multiple methods to help you find balance within yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I understand the human mindbodyspirit as an ecosystem and I treat it that way. I am a scientist and use evidence-based approaches, including those that have been practiced in healing systems for millennia. I don’t recommend or teach anything that I haven’t done myself for at least 5 years and much of what I practice, I’ve been using and studying for up to 20 years. At the same time, I assume that everyone is unique with unique needs and energetic compositions. Everything is connected, but everyone is unique. I help you identify and work with your unique energy composition and history in individualized and group settings by approaching your wellness holistically with nutrition, herbs, spiritual development, mindfulness, movement, and creative expression.
I have two decades of experience in food service and agricultural production; nourishing people with a wide range of health challenges; helping people sing, dance, write, cry, speak, and pray their way to freedom; mediating between and counseling people in crisis; organizing for social and environmental justice at the grassroots level; working in and with non-governmental and community service organizations; forming private/public partnerships; working in health care and for holistic health; supporting faith-based organizations; and facilitating inter-faith and inter-cultural dialogue.
I’ve worked at different levels across the U.S. and in Nassau, The Bahamas and Dublin, Ireland to increase peace and nonviolence; improve environmental and community health in underserved communities; increase bicultural diversity and ecosystem conservation efforts; enhance education for children and adults from diverse backgrounds; reform adult and youth justice systems; reduce poverty and homelessness; develop sustainable economies; and defend and sustain food and medicine sovereignty.
I have a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from Antioch University New England, an M.Phil in International Peace Studies from Trinity College Dublin, a B.A. in Political Science/Global Studies from the University of Delaware, a Certificates in Mediation from Mediation Northern Ireland and a Certificate of Conciliation from the UN-ILO.
I love connecting with people who share similar interests and welcome mutually beneficial collaborations of all kinds, so please feel free to reach out!
